The Mae Granny Stitch Basket or Bag with optional fabric top is a cute and stylish basket to hold all your crafting essentials. Store your treasured yarn or current craft project inside.
If you are also a Sewist, you can add an optional fabric drawstring top to keep your project or yarn safely tucked inside.
Finished Dimensions:
Large Basket with Crochet Handles: 8 inch (20.5 cm) bottom diameter x 4.5 inches tall (11.5 cm)
Small Basket with Crochet Handles: 6 inch (15.2 cm) bottom diameter x 4.6 inches tall (11.5 cm)
Large Basket with Fabric Top: 8 inch (20.5 cm) bottom diameter x 10.5 inches tall (26.7 cm) When the top is fully expanded.

Supplies:
4.5 mm Crochet Hook
160 yards (146 meters) Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn (Large Basket with Crocheted Handles)
120 yards (109 meters) Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn (Small Basket with Crocheted Handles)
*Cotton twine is also a great option, look for "Butcher's" Twine. Because it is more firm, you will need 245 yards (230 meters).

Materials needed for this project:
- Exterior Fabric : 1/2 yd/meter quilting weight cotton fabric (43” wide)
- Lining Fabric: 1 fat quarter quilting weight cotton fabric (45 cm x 55 cm)
25 inches (63.5 cm) of 1” wide Cotton Webbing for straps ( if not using the same fabric as exterior)
72 inches (182.8 cm) of nylon cording or ribbon.
